• The flat circular base of the tanks should be fully supported over its whole bottom area.
  • The support base should be rigid, flat, leveled and strong enough to carry the weight of a fully filled tank without any deflection.
  • In case of M.S. Platform. It should then be free from sharp edges, corners and surface projections and also corrosion resistant.
  • If required the tank can be suitably anchored and may be provided with clamping device.
  • The pipelines, valves and other fittings should be properly aligned and supported so that they do not produce any distortion in the tank.
  • Circular holes on water tank should preferably be drilled with high speed steel hole saw cutter to have a edge free from notches.
  • The check nuts of the Tank Connecting Nipple must be used with rubber gaskets and should not be over tightened. No jointing compounds or putty be used on rubber gaskets. PTEF tapes, better known as Teflon tapes be used as thread sealant for fittings or valves to be used with the tank.
  • Needless to mention that all metallic or non-metallic fittings to be used with the tank should not produce any kind of harmless effect on potable water.
  • The tanks should not be installed in close proximity to heaters or direct source of heat
  • Finally the inside of the tank should be thoroughly cleaned with detergent before being put to use.
  • In summer water stored in twin layer PE tank gets heated too much. If possible, a small shed be provided on the top of it to overcome this problem.
Tips for maintenance of Ori-Plast’s Water Storage Tanks
  • Frequency for periodical maintenance depends upon the quality of water being supplied by the corporation/municipality.
  • Water supplied directly from Deep Tube Wells is high in iron content The dissolved iron in ferrous state when comes in contact wit the atmosphere gets converted to ferric oxide due to oxidation and gets deposited in the bottom of the tank. Hence the tank should be cleaned as frequently as possible.
  • In case of filtered and treated water being supplied from rivers and lakes, the cleaning frequency may be deferred or delayed to suit the situation.
  • All outlet valves except the one on the drain should be closed before the start of the cleaning process.
  • The tank should contain water as less as possible before draining to avoid wastage
  • The tank should then be cleaned with detergent and finally washed and wiped thoroughly to remove the traces of it before refilling.
  • Lastly the tank lid is to be closed and preferably locked.
