Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride or CPVC is modern age thermoplastic material which is produced by chlorination of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin. In this process, the chlorine gas is decomposed into free chlorine which is then reacted with PVC in post-production step, essentially replacing a portion of the hydrogen in the PVC with chlorine.

Ori-Plast uses totally imported pre-compounded CPVC 4120 resin to manufacture its pipes and fittings. CPVC 4120 is actually the standard designation code of material as specified in ASTM D 2846 and suitable to manufacture pipes and fittings. The last digits (i.e. 20) indicate the Hydrostatic Design Stress for water (i.e. 2000 psi at 730C) in the units of 100 psi. It is equivalent to 14.0 MPa at 230C. The “Long Term Hydrostatic Strength” of CPVC 41 is defined by Hydrostatic Design Stress of 3.5 MPa at 820 C.
